 The
optics on this scope are terrific for an ED doublet. Low power shows an
extremely flat field. The contrast is also fantastic because the scope has
excellent baffling and uses the finest multi-coatings available. The
multi-speed 2.5" Crayford focuser is perfectly smooth with no slop or
backlash. Fit and finish are top-notch. This scope has been used for just
over a year and is in perfect condition.I'm throwing in the Agena eyepiece, as it makes a perfect "finder" for the Megrez, giving a spectacular 3.6-degree true field of view, sharp and flat to the edge. The Agena has a removable Barlow element, giving it either 20mm or 30mm FL. The HEQ-5 is a well-maintained older model (without GoTo). It tracks extremely well: I've shot up to 4 minutes, unguided, with no visible star trails. Has a built-in polar scope and hand controller. Many have upgraded this mount for auto-guiding.
