Globe at Night

The effects of Light Pollution are felt locally and globally by all living beings on our planet. It deprives us not only of our natural right to enjoy the night sky, but also disrupts the natural environment, wastes energy, and degrades urban living.

Through discussions with the general public and local municipal governments, it has become apparent that lack of awareness is the primarily obstacle preventing any action plan. As part of a global initiative to reduce the adverse impact of light pollution on health, safety, and the environment, the Victoria Centre has been pursuing an educational approach.

To promote a common sense approach to reducing light pollution and to highlight its impact on human health and the environment, the Victoria Centre has produced a one-page flier and a set of "Light Pollution Cards", which provides more in-depth explanations than the flier. We encourage you to review this information and hope that you will take some responsibility in reducing light pollution in your neighbourhood.
